Over the past 2 weeks I’ve been on the road traveling around different parts of Queenslands central coast. Like usual I managed to put aside some time to video some trucks! In this video we find ourselves in the city of Mackay, located a ‘short’ 10 hour drive away from Brisbane. JJ Richards has been the dominant company in the Mackay region for 20+ years. They have held this current contract since 2014. The fleet consists of close to 8 waste trucks (mixture of Facelift & flatface accos) and 5 larger body recycling trucks. Throughout the contract they’ve gained other trucks from surrounding councils, majority of these trucks act as spare units. Prior to 2014 Veolia environmental was the company responsible for weekly general waste pick ups, whilst JJ Richards handled the fortnightly recycling. From what I’ve gathered, the trucks up in Mackay are due to be replaced mid way next year. I can only assume JJ’s will retain the contract and roll out their streamlined fleet of Volvo’s fixed onto their in-house built compactors - something that is becoming way to common in the Australian waste scene, particularly in Queensland. The first truck in this video was shot on a very foggy Thursday morning in the suburb of West Mackay. The truck sports a quicker arm speed then the rest of the fleet, due to this you may spot a few cheeky lid flips throughout the video which makes for a more exciting watch. The second truck I caught up with on the following day in the Friday area of Glenella. Big thanks to both drivers, especially the 14AN driver whom I saw on two separate occasions. If she ends up seeing this video I hope she enjoys it! More videos to come from the Mackay area in the coming months 🤙🏻 Videos from the previous contract: - https://youtu.be/0CoU4EuAtRA?si=ukwsbVXUC7T8sw5e - https://youtu.be/MNVxezZphUw?si=_vMoi4k3UKm0JwSt
