This video introduces the concept of magnetic fields from Theme D of the IB Physics SL & HL courses. Magnetic field lines are introduced and interpreted starting in the context of the magnetic field produced by a bar magnet. The magnetic field pattern around current-carrying wires is then explored, and the use of the right-hand grip rule for determining magnetic field direction is explained. This is further extended to show how to determine the magnetic field around a single coil of wire and a solenoid.
