Taking an old set of files in the shop we use them to make a set of thin parallels for the milling machine with no cost at all.
Today in the shop I needed to do a job that required thin parallels. Rather than wait 2 days for something to show up from Amazon or eBay I decided to grab a couple of files that I found in my toolbox his blocks and repurpose them. The end result was decent however there was some learning along the way and as I don't use a surface grinder very often there was room for improvement.
