HIGHER EVERYDAY THURSDAY MAY 14, 2026 MANAGING ANGER TEXT: JAMES 1:19-20 MEMORY VERSE: "Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God" (JAMES 1:19-20). It was Horace who rightly said that, "Anger is a momentary madness, so control your passion or it will control you." Anger is a natural emotional response but it can easily lead to sin if not managed properly. Jesus emphasised the importance of controlling anger when He said, "But I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment" (Matthew 5:22). According to our text, anger emanates from what we hear and say; that is why it calls for a cautious approach in communication; watch your responses. My friend, anger does not produce the righteousness of God. Remember, unchecked anger can lead to actions that are out of sync with our faith and often results in negative outcomes. Remember Cain who killed Abel. Often, immediate reactions to issues can escalate conflicts or damage relationships, whereas a pause for reflection can lead to more constructive dialogue. Managing anger requires biblical insights and self-control. So, be "swift to hear" and "slow to anger". Aim for God's will in all things. QUOTE: Be swift to hear and slow anger. CHALLENGE: Control your emotions to let go of anger. PRAYER: Lord, please, help me to avoid angry reactions, in Jesus' name. #trend #devotional #trending
