In this Video, I have Programmed NFC tag ⚪️ ($1) to turn On/Off Smart 🏡 lights💡, Plugs 🔌, Switches 🎛 and TV 📺 to play Netflix by just tapping the phone on the NFC tag. Smart Home Devices Controlled :- -Philips hue bulb. -Philips hue light bar as TV backlight. -Govee light bar as Monitor backlight. -Tplink indoor/outdoor plugs for non-smart led’s and patio lights. -Broadlink infrared to send unique code to TV to turn on and play netflix. What is NFC? NFC or Near-Field Communications is a form of RFID technology that has a read range of up to a few centimeters and has become very popular due to its fast connectivity and data transmission capabilities. How it works? NFC technology uses magnetic coupling to send and receive signals. When two NFC enabled devices are close enough (1-10 cm), they create an electromagnetic ⚡️🧲 field between them which allows the active NFC device(📱iPhone here) to power up and communicate with the passive NFC device(⚪️NFC tags here). The active NFC device then picks up on variations in signal levels specific to the passive device and extract the relevant information. The host application can then understand the information and take any relevant next steps. Explantation of Demo : In my demo Active NFC device is iPhone and Passive device is NFC tag, I have already registered/saved this NFC tag(Unique ID)with iPhone by scanning initially and so iPhone is aware of the unique signal produced by this tag, later when i tap my phone on tag it detects the specific signal associated with this previously registered tag and performs below action that i coded. i.e Publishes the message on HomeAssistant broker which then triggers the specific automation that i have coded in HomeAssistant to call Device Specific API’s to turn on/off lights, switches, plug and send infrared signal to TV
