Melodic Dictation Workshop #9
Melodic Dictation Workshops (Preparation for the AP Music Theory Exam FRQ 1 and FRQ 2) This is the ninth in a series of weekly workshops that are interactive learning sessions to improve your melodic dictation skills. Start in January and finish the series in time for the exam in May. We will be working through successively more difficult melodic dictations, covering major and minor, simple and compound meter, treble and bass clef, and the melodic types that appear on FRQ 1 and FRQ 2. Session #9: FRQ2, chromatically altered scale-degrees, compound duple patterns Bio: Jocelyn Neal is chair of the music department at UNC Chapel Hill, and has worked as a consultant for the College Board for the AP Music Theory course and as a reader for the exam since 2014. She was on the committee that wrote the Course and Exam Description for AP Music Theory in 2019.
