Module 10: TCS Foods
Share in the JOY Food Handler Certification Program As part of JOY’s Pathways, this program provides foster youth with direct access to food handlers certification training in a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed environment, helping open doors to meaningful employment opportunities in the food and hospitality industries. For many youth in foster care, transportation challenges, financial limitations, lack of guidance, and limited access to resources can make even entry-level employment feel out of reach. This program was specifically designed to meet youth where they are by bringing certification opportunities directly to the campuses, organizations, and community spaces that already support them. Through this initiative, youth gain: • Food Handlers Certification training • Employment readiness support • Increased confidence and independence • Access to pathways toward long-term stability and success At Share in the JOY, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to build a future filled with hope, dignity, and purpose. Programs like JOY’s Pathways are focused not only on employment, but on restoring confidence, connection, and a belief in what is possible. These video modules are part of the Share in the JOY Food Handlers Certification Program, developed specifically to help eliminate barriers to employment for youth in foster care throughout Clark County. The modules are designed to be used in conjunction with the Share in the JOY Food Handler Certification Program Student Handbook. At the conclusion of the training, students will complete a final exam. Upon successful completion, they will receive a certificate that can be taken to the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) to obtain their official SNHD Food Handler Card. This program is part of JOY’s Pathways, an initiative focused on creating meaningful pathways toward employment, independence, and long-term success for youth who have experienced foster care, housing insecurity, or other significant challenges. Share in the JOY is a Las Vegas-based nonprofit organization dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of children affected by foster care, housing insecurity, and domestic violence through innovative programs centered around healing, empowerment, community connection, and opportunity.
