Courtney (Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate) is biracial. She shares, "I felt like I had an identity crisis the majority of my life. I never felt white enough or Indian enough. I never felt like I fit in anywhere." As an adult, Courtney has connected with her culture and community, and she no longer feels that way. She adds that she doesn't believe that blood quantum should determine your identity, and she states: "If you're 1% Native, you're Native enough."
