NextDNS Explanation and Setup Tutorial 2025

Hello YouTube, it's Matt here from Forensics with Matt and in today's video I will be talking about NextDNS, how to set it up and the settings I am using to run my instance. I chose to use NextDNS, realistically, to help myself to not distract myself with certain sites at home during the work day. I also used it to help test aggressive ad, tracker and malware blocking to help to increase internet safety, security and privacy. I do not want mega-corporations like Google and Meta tracking me, building profiles on me, and selling me things based on those profiles they created on me. In doing this I learned several things. The main thing I learned was that there are so many different things going on on different pages that may be compromised and may give information away to third parties. I also learned that using aggressive blocking of third party assets makes things not work in many places. For instance Albertsons flyers will not work if your blocking is aggressive because there are content distributors that will get blocked by aggressive content blocking schemes.
