OOPs! extra footage
Accidently turned off and back on video. Now, you see what a horse with a leadership attitude does when he doesn't want to do lunging. He chose to challenge and we had to react with lead horse attitude as well. You want your horse to see you can bring up energy and bring it down. Deb has to react to Duee wanting to quit himself and she has to decide it. We are working on that. Even in a small pen, around 40x40 ft, you use the whip for space and safety. Duee likes to show off, but here he is showing what has worked for him in the past. You want your horse to feel good and he is not feeling good with this reaction. We have a lot to do to get him to feel good and feel empowered, but not as the leader! Even after Deb comes out of the space, Duee remains at the fence and watches us. He isn't too upset! You will notice Sonny in the first videos. We do have two small pens about the same size. They both get a little grain for coming in and we separate them. It helps Duee with his separation anxiety and both can interact in between sessions. You want your horse to learn and process what has happened, so let them have time to relax, eat grass, and converse with their buddies.
