Part I: This presentation introduces the modeling of Relative Intensity Noise (RIN) suppression in lasers using balanced photodiodes within the OptiSystem software. It demonstrates how a DFB laser, when operated at twice its threshold current, generates significant RIN, which can be effectively suppressed through a balanced detection scheme.
