Mermaid is a side stretch in mat pilates that lengthens and opens the side of the body. We are adding the thoracic rotation to this exercise. Mermaid teaches us to keep our scapula settled in the back as the arm moves.
For the initial mermaid , with the sit bones grounded however do not force to sit with sit bones and start with only one bone and keep hat one grounded all the time at the beginning.

obliques abdominals
Objectives:
To strengthen obliques abdominal on one side
To stretch oblique abdominal on the other side.
