This is our version of the popular plotclock built by Johannes Heberlein in 2014 (http://youtu.be/iOLFP90DneY). It was developed by Çedric Mulenga, as part of his final-year project (a 3-credit course at the ÉTS). The arms are 3D printed, the base is laser cut from acrylic, and the microcontroller board is an Arduino UNO Rev3.
We have a lot of experience building highly accurate parallel robots, including five-bar robots like the plotclock (http://youtu.be/dnixuCu49o4). However, this is the first time we build a robot with a $500 budget. Well, the final result was disappointing, but the design process was fun.
