~{Project Helios}~
Obsolescence found its way to the FL-1D flood light, a diesel-powered unit that has provided mobile lighting and auxiliary power to the Air Force for decades. An idea was Sparked by a technician who maintains this unit, replace it with a renewable energy unit, this solution made sense but was costly. Instead, we assembled a team to retrofit the old unit with articulating solar panels, batteries, smart parts and high powered LEDs. This solution prevents wasting good material and creates surplus parts for remaining units in the fleet. Helios 1 is completely autonomous, providing 20 hours of 78,000 lumen, 120v and 220v outlets and bluetooth monitoring systems; all powered by the sun. Helios 2 is being designed to plug into a charging station and Helios 1, together with the legacy FL-1D they will be packaged and prepped for the AFWERX Spark challenge as the Air Force looks to reimagine energy usage. Thanks to GECI Group for partnering with us and engineering a viable solution and strengthening our allied relationships. Thanks to Puerto Drones 5.0 for providing drone footage.
