Psalm 19
The words of this song come directly from Psalm 19, one of my favorites. David begins by describing the awesomeness of God, and how His words are carried throughout all of creation. In every language and speech, they are seen throughout the world. The heavens and the sun are established and travel at his command. The next section David talks about Gods laws and commandments and testimonies and how they personally impact his (and our) life. They are there to protect us and to positively impact our lives. How precious and amazing is God’s word! Finally, he finishes in verse 14 with a prayer, one that I have been praying much lately, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord my strength and my Redeemer.” It is so easy to allow the cares of this world and all the noise around us to consume our thoughts and fill us with garbage. It is from the abundance (overflow) of our hearts that our mouth speaks. I want my heart to be filled with an abundance of His word, so that it overflows when I speak!
