Quest's Camp Thunderbird Sending a loved one to camp for the first time is a major milestone that brings a lot of excitement, but it can also be daunting for parents if their child has a disability. This is a common feeling to have, and it's important to find the right match. Many parents and guardians naturally have questions and concerns about their children being away from home, and at Quest's Camp Thunderbird, we do our best to ease your worries and foster a safe and smooth transition for our guest - and you. After more than 40 years of summer successes, we're positive that they will have the greatest adventure possible at Quest! Since 1969, Quest's Camp Thunderbird has been dedicated to providing a real summer camp experience for people with special needs. Because of the physical and behavioral challenges associated with Down syndrome, autism, Cerebral Palsy and other developmental disabilities, these children and adults aren't typically eligible to attend traditional camps. Quest's Camp Thunderbird is their chance to learn new skills and focus on the remarkable things they can do, while making new friends and unforgettable memories. In addition to providing each guest with an outstanding experience, Quest's Camp Thunderbird's six and 12-day overnight sessions also give parents and guardians a much-needed break from the demands of 24-hour care giving. For many families, this respite is their first chance to relax, spend time with friends, or even take a vacation knowing that their loved one is receiving quality care and attention.
