A beautiful girl with extraordinarily long golden hair is locked away in a tower by a jealous witch. A prince discovers her and, after learning how to reach her, visits her regularly. Rapunzel accidentally reveals the prince's visits to the witch, who retaliates by cutting off Rapunzel's hair and banishing her to a desert. The witch curses the prince, leaving him blind. He wanders aimlessly until he stumbles upon Rapunzel in the desert. Her tears restore his sight, and her hair miraculously regrows. They return to his kingdom, marry, and live happily ever after.
