Record Breaking Balloon Flight! Valbal
We set a world record! Today you follow the SSI team, where we got out and launch our high altitude balloon platform for endurance flights! This technology is pretty darn cool. We're currently looking to host some scientific payloads if your lab is interested (contact me below.) We use all our own custom electronics and laser cut parts to make this, and it's been a project for over two years now. (SSI stands for Stanford Student Space Initiative.) The world record specifically is the world's longest time of flight for a high altitude latex balloon. There are super pressure balloons that last longer, but they cost 100k+. This is the world's first mission that has lasted so long. =-=-=-=Further Reading:=-=-=-=-= Our website with more info: http://bit.ly/2iFnPhb IEEE paper: http://stanford.io/2iFz6hB -=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Welcome to Jamlabs, come along with us as we get excited about Science and try things out on our own! Here's the thing, saying "don't try this at home" is a bit of a cop out. It's a way for videomakers like us to not take responsibility for the information we distribute. If you are going to try this, you need to take responsibility for it. Own your own project and figure it out. We are only hobbyists too. That being said, respect the process, and take safety seriously. But get out there and explore!
