Note: Regarding physical and and atomical properties, in short *physical* means the object itself (i.e. grass, wood, concrete) and how it interacts with light, while *atomic* means how the molecular structure (i.e. oxygen/hydrogen/iron molecules in their purest and compound forms) interacts with light. See next paragraph for a great explanation of this: In terms of the atomic level, different elements have differing numbers of electrons. The number of electrons affects the amount of energy –photons– that can be absorbed. So in laymen’s terms, at the atomic level the more electrons within a molecule, the more photonic energy obtainable. Shorter wavelengths contain greater energy; this is derived from Planck’s equation. Therefore we know that lighter molecules –elements– within substances makes that substance, have greater difficulty at absorbing shorter wavelengths and thus their correlating colours.
