Rendering molecules using the force-directed layout

The force directed layout (FDL) is a technique used in graph drawing where nodes in a graph need to be placed close to connected nodes, yet spaced evenly. I used actual chemical compounds in a simulation to see whether the FDL can automatically give rise to the actual molecular structures of the compounds.
