Roman Nagel Masterclass
He started composing in 2021. Not because he finally had the perfect idea. Because he stopped waiting for one. Roman is classically trained. He has run his own music school in Cologne for years. And for most of that time, he convinced himself that composition required something he did not have. What changed was not his skill. It was his starting point. He took a chord progression from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, reordered it until something new emerged, and called it Spring. He held two borrowed chords at 70 BPM and let his right hand search through half-tone scales until a melody found its place. That became Clocks. His framework is simple: harmony, melody, rhythm. Train each one separately. Start small. Follow where the music goes. "You don't need the perfect idea. You just need a small impulse, a spark to try something out." His full masterclass is on MasterPiano. Link in bio.
