This video takes a drive through Savage River State Forest in western Maryland and the adjoining New Germany and Big Run state parks. The area provides numerous recreational activities including hiking, camping, boating, whitewater, hunting and fishing. New Germany state park has a modest entrance fee for the recreational area. These parks are located in a very rural area of the state with large tracts of wilderness like land. The Savage River Dam feeds the Savage River and provides world class whitewater rafting on the few times each year large volumes of water are released from the dam.
