A set of not-entirely-free variations on a simple, pleasant two-bar theme.
I’d like to be able to say that no composer nor guitarist was harmed in the making of this presentation, but that wouldn’t be remotely true. I had quite a few meltdowns in the process of bringing this movement—composed almost a year ago—into a performable and presentable form. I had to trick myself this morning, so as not to overthink and tie myself into scary knots.
But I think it was worth it, and I learned some more things in the process. Of course it’s aware of Cousin Beethoven, and a few others, but I think it has its own magic.
