Just a quick example I happened to capture of how shield snapshotting works in Final Fantasy XIV. Even though the boss died and therefore I never took damage, the cast finished and therefore the TBN shield (and part of the Celestial Intersection shield) was consumed, granting me a Dark Arts proc on my job gauge. This same phenomenon allows you to double dip on the shield of Eukrasian Prognosis and the heal of Pepsis when timed correctly.
