Shoulder Internal Rotation Eccentrics

The external shoulder rotators often get tight and restrict internal rotation. This decrease in internal rotation has the potential to cause compensation and future injury. Rather than just doing the standard shoulder rotation prehab drills add some eccentric training in as well. If you think about throwing the external rotators act as brakes so training eccentric strength would have a greater positive transfer than typical external rotation exercises. As discussed in previous mobility videos eccentric training also creates a stimulus to increase muscle length so this should increase your internal rotation ROM. Dave Stewart The Trainer’s Trainer
