Sick and Tired
Sick and Tired If you’ve ever had to “move in” to a hospital…like unpack your clothes and your desk lamp, bring in some pictures and trinkets to brighten up the windowsill, find a space for your guitar and make sure you have enough books…then this one’s for you. The days are long, the weeks are longer, and the constant in and out of the doctors and nurses, especially during the night, gets real old after a while. All in all, zero stars…would not recommend… Most every line of this came straight out of my journal. I just went through and jotted down any of the phrases that seemed like they would work, then mixed and matched them to each other and made them rhyme a little bit. I felt that musically, less was more with this one. Open chords and easy changes. To give it a slightly different feel, I just really leaned into the 1 and the 3 (you know, the beats that you’re not supposed to clap on, or the internet will make fun of you). It takes a lot of the bounce out of it, which seemed like the way to go with this one.
