Ever wonder how some jumpers end up with more cutaways than others? In this video, we’re sharing footage of a recent cutaway caused by two stacked malfunctions: a line twist and a toggle fire. The jumper, with 215 jumps, was borrowing a rig that wasn’t his, and some small details—like loose toggles and how lines were stowed—might have contributed to the issues.
This was his fourth cutaway, which is significantly higher than the average of 1 in 800 jumps. After the jump, he asked what he could be doing wrong, and we showed him a simple tip for stowing lines that completely changed his approach.
