SLEEP DETECTIVE (16+)

Hello! This is my first ever independent film that I did for college. I am very proud of the project I've made, and I'd love to see what you think! I hope you enjoy it, and be sure to give me advice or a review in the comments. This film was supposed to be longer, but unfortunately cuts were made when I lost time while making it. So I will be happy to answer some questions if you have any. I've been working on this film since March, this is definitely the first longest thing I've worked on lol. Maybe I'll make more short films in future. Thanks for being patient! Music aside from the jazz jingle was made by me, sfx does not belong to me. I animated the entire film independently. #animation #art ---- Synonpis:Sleep Detective is a character that is so absorbed with his job he defines himself as it. He wants to do good because that's his purpose. An apple names Rot bullies him because everyone has moved on from tradition and SD still wants to work. Sleep Detective gets knocked out and dreams of himself getting killed in various places (meant to represent the cycle of death, the black figures are the people who've lived and then died) -- Sleep detective dreams of god only for god to go against what he's doing, it ends with SD killing rot in his sleep, breaking his cycle of being boring and moving on. Sleep Detective is a short film about the struggle of identity, and not knowing your purpose in life. The story is about the character “Sleep Detective” as he wanders through various dreamlike memories in hopes of living up to his job. However, he runs into trouble when even those around him want nothing to do with him - causing things to go off the rails as the movie progresses. This movie is gritty yet cartoonish, and is overall abstract. It's hard to make sense of what is happening, leaving the viewer to try to connect the pieces of the puzzle that is Sleep Detective. It takes place in the 1970s, evidenced by the topics of protest, identity, and cultural shifting that is hinted at in the film itself.
