Small scale fire wood production explained

We have been in our house for almost two years now and this will be our third winter. Our house is heated almost exclusively with a Regency wood stove in the living room, although we do use a small wall mounted heater in the kids room on the coldest of night. The most affordable way that we have found to purchase cord wood is by buying rounds. Usually these round come between 16 -18 inches long and are a variety of widths. We chop them our selves stack the wood for a year to season and save a ton of money. This batch of 2 chords of doug fir we got at $100 total. Not too shabby. Wood splitting is also great exercise and a very satisfying way to spend an hour or two a day. Thanks for watching.
