Soleus Self Massage
This self massage is perfect for easing painful calves, achilles tendon, treatment for plantar fasciitis and/or lateral hip pain. The soleus muscle attaches to behind the knee and travels down the leg and attaches just above the ankle. The soleus is a very important muscle for runners, walkers, dancers and it aids balancing. This muscles allows us to point our foot, accelerate, aids the heel/toe action when our foot strikes the ground. You'll need a couple of tennis balls placed inside a sock and the sock is knotted to prevent the balls from moving. This self-massage technique can be completed anytime and should not exceed 6/10 for pain. This technique is best avoided if you have Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) or Varicose Veins in the lower legs. This self massage technique is a great preventative if you have a job that means you stand all day. You'll notice once you have completed it your legs feel lighter and less tight.
