Extrude with Offset Start (Offset Extrude) This is a specific setting within the Extruded Boss/Base or Extruded Cut command. Under the "From" drop-down menu, you can select "Offset." This tells SolidWorks to start the extrusion at a distance away from the sketch plane, rather than starting directly on it. Function: It allows you to create geometry that "floats" away from your sketch without having to create a brand-new Reference Plane first.
