Somatic Movement Practice for Pelvic Health Before you begin: Find a comfortable spot you can lay down and somewhere you won’t be disturbed. If you’re on the floor, I recommend lying on the carpet or otherwise a mat or pad. You can also practice in bed. You may also like a pillow if your neck and shoulders are feeling tight. Pelvic Clock is a somatic movement practice that invites you to explore the quality of feeling in and around your pelvis, hips, and low back. There are many benefits to this practice, here are a few— • Gently stretches the low back muscles and those of the pelvis and hip joints • Helps to gently release tight hip flexor muscles • Balances excessive nervous energy stored in the gut • Relaxes the vagus nerve in the ‘gut brain’ to promote rest and digestion • Increases blood circulation and nourishes hip joints • Flushes stagnate energy in the hip joints • Improves the flow of pranic life force through the meridian channels of the legs • Creates a gentle peristalsis (intestinal contractions) helping to eliminate toxins stored in the GI tract • Improves neuroplasticity through movement diversification • Grows the brain map to include deeper pelvic awareness • Increases sensory-motor (somatic) awareness Did you participate in the video?
