Like many sugar mills in Java, Kanigoro uses Orenstein and Koppel steam locomotives. There are many other examples stored out of use in the loco shed.
Pagottan mill 700mm

A brief look at Pagottan mill's O&K 0-10-0 with a Luttermoller axle. This 'floating' axle allow the
0-10-0 to round curves that would be impossible with conventional fixed axles.
Merican mill 700mm
Loco manufacturer: O&K
Merican mill uses oxen power as well as O&K steam locos. One of the steam locos was a hundred and three years old in 2004, still working on day-to-day duties earning its keep. Merican mill was famous for the 'firework' displays issuing from the chimneys of the locos when working at night. Unfortunately my shots in no way do this spectacle justice.
