At Olean oxen were used to haul cane on temporary track from the fields to the road where trains are made up. These are haled to the mill by a steam loco. In 2004 Olean was one of the very few mills still using steam outside the immediate confines of the mill yard.
Semboro mill 700mm

Semboro mill has a 0-4-4-0 O&K Mallet in operation. The black material in the small hopper wagons is bagasse ash from the mill furnaces. This is distributed to the villagers for use as fertiliser.
