In response to a surge in auto thefts involving Hyundai vehicles nationwide, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office is distributing 100 free steering wheel locks to eligible Hyundai owners as part of a proactive crime prevention effort.
The locks, provided by Hyundai Motor Company, are now available at the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters, located at 55 W. Younger Ave. in San Jose, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will continue until they’re gone.
To receive a free steering wheel lock, Hyundai owners must:
- Present valid proof of vehicle registration
- Be a resident of Santa Clara County
- Arrive early, as devices are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis
The program reflects the Sheriff’s Office’s continued commitment to public safety, crime prevention, and community outreach.
