Training one response in one setting is never enough - behavior must generalize across relevant situations and occur flexibly. Key Concepts: Stimulus Generalization: Responding in the presence of NEW stimuli that are similar to the original training stimulus, even though behavior was never explicitly reinforced with these new stimuli. Same response, DIFFERENT stimuli Response Generalization: Variations in the FORM of behavior that serve the same function and produce the same consequence as the original trained response.
