Student Data Collection Explained | Part 2

Hey there, elementary teachers! Welcome back part two of our video series on collecting reading comprehension data. In our previous video, we discussed some what types of data you should be collecting along with some best practices for collecting data. In this video, we'll be continuing the conversation and exploring more ways to gather valuable information about your students' reading abilities. First things first, it's essential to know the text inside and out. Before reading with your students, take the time to familiarize yourself with the content and structure of the text. This will help you ask targeted questions that will assess their comprehension accurately. Another crucial tip is to ask questions matched to the text while and after reading. By doing this, you'll be able to gauge how well your students understood the text as they read it and identify any areas where they may have struggled. Plus, asking questions after reading allows you to evaluate how well students can recall and apply what they've learned. Finally, analyzing your students' reading behavior is a valuable tool to collect data. By observing their reading behaviors, such as fluency, accuracy, and pacing, you can gain insights into their strengths and areas for improvement.
