TAE conversation
The TAE investment equation. As it stands, the TAE qualification is a requirement to work as an accredited trainer and assessor in Australia. Jobs in this category range from $80,000 to well over $100,000 depending on the industry, employment arrangement and location. This salary aligns with entry level teacher roles – where a person has to complete over 3 years of education and extended job placements to gain the qualification and right to work as a teacher. So when I hear of RTOs offer $500 off, now just $1400 for you Cert IV, done in 8 weeks, what signal is this sending to those undertaking the qualification? Its value is minimised, and the quality of the training and assessment cannot compete with the RTOs offering a more realistic fee structure. This has been an ongoing problem in the vocational sector with many people complaining that the TAE was a terrible or useless qualification that they HAD to undertake. But the majority if not ALL of these complaints, would come from experiences with the bargain basement providers. What are you thoughts?
