Taigaa! was an avant-garde indie pop band from Brooklyn who described their music as: "inspired by Mexican Folk, Tango, burning icicles, feathers, electronic music, snowshoe rabbits, dance, birds nesting & laying their eggs, Punk Rock, Pre-80s Korean Pop, matador costume, props, neon, lynx, conifers, snowstorms, summer, insects breeding in melting water, biomes, the top of the world." Members included Fantastico Pirato on vocals, K.O.K.O on keyboard and violin, Beara on keyboard and flute, and Dusty Gold on the drums. They gave interesting masked performances and I dug their music. Sadly never got to see them live. When they were featured on NPR in late 2006, I thought for sure they were getting big, but oddly their music has faded into obscurity over the years. Their two albums aren't available on any streaming platforms. Thankfully, I found a few of their CDs for purchase online so I could archive and share them both. (There are a few pops and skips on the first track of this rip, but no issues after that.) Enjoy Taigaa!'s 2006 self-titled debut album, recorded at Civil Defense Studios by Jeremy Scott, published by Thin Beat Metal. (This CD was miraculously still available, so consider supporting the band and buying a copy from Printed Matter--link below) Track listing: 00:00 Queen of Black Diamond (Cover) 03:03 Ennui Ennui Ennui Catastrophe 05:57 Cosmic Matador 09:48 Deep Moustache Forrest 13:39 Pirate Gold 14:36 Adioss 18:27 Liberaccion 21:42 Silver Snake Lump of Pearls Relevant links: npr.org/2006/11/09/6458158/taigaa-ennui-ennui-ennui-catastrophe printedmatter.org/catalog/20667/
