TBC Utility Module - Create Trench and Report
The process involves setting up a trench for a utility run by matching stationing with a reference PDF and LandXML file. The starting station is set at 1564.97, and the trench template is inserted to begin at this point. Adjustments are made for nodes and pipe templates, referencing construction documents for details. Excavation accounts for a half-foot of bedding gravel, with backfill materials and minimum cover requirements considered. The trench is designed to meet OSHA and county requirements, with depth zones from 0 to 44 feet, and unit costs adjusted for depths over 14 feet. A takeoff report is generated, detailing node-to-node and end-to-end lengths, pipe lengths, and material volumes. The report includes earthworks, on-site soil, off-site borrow, and backfill materials, with totals in cubic yards. Node summaries provide total heights for ordering manholes, with design heights indicating necessary orders. The report offers a comprehensive breakdown of existing and new nodes, enabling quick takeoff creation from engineer-provided PDFs and LandXML files. Further information will be explored in follow-up videos.
