College Trigonometry Chapter 12, Topic 5—The Ellipse
Ellipses are oval shapes, literally circles that are stretched into ovals. The classic definition of this conic section is the collection of all points such that the sum of distances to two foci points is constant. This video shows the derivation of the algebra equation of an ellipse from this definition. It is an excellent illustration of an application of analytic geometry.
