In this tutorial I show you the herringbone braid. The braid can be done with various numbers of strands, commonly up from 6. It is a very versatile braid indeed. It is used for covering handles, making whips, as well as leashes. The braid can be tied with a core or without.

I demonstrate the braid using 8 strands, but the basic procedure splitting up the opposing cords in half can be used with 12 or more strands just as well.
Basically, we pass the top cords around the back and split the cords on the other side, then return to the bottom on the side we took the strand from.
