The PEER Reading Strategy

Dr. Kathryn Garforth and Faith Borkowsky discuss the PEER Strategy for reading aloud to children. This strategy is easy for parents, preschool teachers, and other early childhood educators to use so that they can help the child take more information from the story when they read. Faith Borkowsky is a Certified Dyslexia Practitioner and the founder of High Five Literacy and Academic Coaching. For the past thirty years, Ms. Borkowsky has seen programs come and go, materials bought by school districts not used properly by teachers, or, even worse, never touched. The waste and lack of clear direction have been disheartening, yet with her experience as a Classroom Teacher, Reading and Learning Specialist, Regional Literacy Coach, Administrator, and Private Tutor, she has seen first-hand what truly works. Dr. Kathryn Garforth an Educational Consultant and Interventionist at Garforth Education. She works with families to help them understand their child’s unique learning profile and creates a customized intervention designed to help them reach their personal best. Dr. Kathryn Garforth has a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology & Special Education and has a passion for advocating for individuals with exceptionalities.
