For Reactica 2022, I was in charge of building the machine in the red section. So I collected a bunch of red objects from home and built a short little machine! This machine is quite short, but it's got some fun stuff, and I'm proud of how it turned out :) Support me on Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/jackofallspades98 LINKS: Check out Reactica 2022: https://youtu.be/5JzTe0i8MXg ALL Reactica 2022 Machine Close-Ups: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJc_biUk0i76v1aKBbrBIlzFkQcha3YDi When Alex revealed his plans for each machine to be color-coded, I was totally up to the task, but I wasn't sure how noticeable the effect would really be. I thought that the Reactica machines would just mostly look like normal machines, but with red/blue/green/yellow foreign objects. In other words, I wasn't sure if the color-coding would be apparent at a brief glance, or if it would be something most viewers would need to have pointed out to them. I was pleasantly surprised that all the Reactica machines are *very* clearly color-coded! A lot of the objects in this machine were things I have been holding onto for a while, not really ever having a great use for them. The Hot Wheels launcher (that launches the pointer finger), bendy tube, and giant hand are good examples of this. The mini frying pan would also fit in that category, except I haven't actually had it for that long. I ended up using most of the objects I really wanted to use, and managed to fit it all on a pretty small table due to combining multiple red objects into the same trick (giant hand presses on K'nex piston, book presses button on umbrella, Hot Wheels launcher launches pointer finger, car crashes into cups). For a pretty small and uncomplicated machine, it has some wow factor moments, some nice visuals, and some complexity sprinkled in for the savvy chain reaction viewers. One of my best live event machines for sure, tainted only by the fact that it didn't actually work in the live topple. MACHINE STATS: Time taken to build: 5 days Number of fails: 6 for handheld (before *first* working take, 8 in total as I continued testing), 2 for overhead Time: 27s Favorite trick: Ball Unwinds & Rolls on Pole (0:32) Most fails: Ball Unwinds & Rolls on Pole (4 fails) Fewest fails: Umbrella (0:16), Pointer Launch (0:23), Bendy Tube (0:27), Car & Cup Tower (0:29), and Rolling Phone (0:30) (all 0 fails) Most unreliable: Ball Unwinds & Rolls on Pole, but with an Honorable Mention to Spinning Frying Pan (0:25), which had plenty of fails in its own right, including during the actual topple :( Most frustrating during building: Spinning Frying Pan Most frustrating during testing: Spinning Frying Pan MUSIC: 361ue - Memory Music provided by Ninety9Lives Stream / Free Download: https://99l.ai/pbz1o4m.QCT Want to hang out with other chain reaction artists and enthusiasts?
