The Simple Yoke

Which, ironically enough, is sometimes the hardest thing for us to accept. When we gather here listening to this tune, leaning on the ancient wisdom of those who walked the shores long before us, we are being invited into a profound unburdening. Christ's invitation across the tossed waters isn't a demand for more hustle, it is a quiet whisper asking us to drop the heavy yoke of our own making. "Come to me, you weary ones, and I will give you rest." Sitting here together in this season of our pilgrimage, the complexity just isn't worth the price of admission anymore. We don't need to fight the crashing ocean or try to command the tides. We just need to let the heavy possessions fall, clear the cluttered mind, and let the Maker hold us. It is a profound, illuminating grace, learning to ride the heavy waves of life with surrender instead of anxiety.
