This YouTube video presentation is about the theory-practice divide, often called the academia-business divide. It is concerned with the gap between academia and business and management practice.
I commence with thoughts on this gap. Next, I define theory and practice.
I then look in more detail at the gap between academia looking at tensions between the two sides of the divide, differences in their foci and purpose, the way they view the role of methods and methodology, differences in their required outcomes, and potential vies of the other.
Potential solutions to closing the gap are considered.
