This Day

This Day Sometimes I just look around and love what I see. Sometimes a phrase comes to mind that just sounds cool. Then sometimes it just snowballs and all of a sudden the page is full. That’s kinda what happened with this one. I wrote down the first line while I was in the middle of another song…”there’s sunlight banging on the shades to get in”. Then a few weeks later I just started there and kept writing. It seemed like a simple song about simple things, so I wanted to make sure the music stayed kinda simple too. I feel like when the chords and melody are less complicated, you can focus more on feel and rhythm, using other parts of music to tell your story. The parts that took a while on this one were the transitions. I had the verses pretty well done, and had a direction for the chorus, but had trouble getting them together. I had to just leave it for a while and come back to it a few times, then it sorta snapped in place. I feel like this one would be fun with a few other instruments in there to fill it out. Till then…
