Spring Hive Inspection Mistakes: The ONE Factor Most Beekeepers Ignore 🐝🌸 When spring finally arrives, most beekeepers ask one question: “Is it warm enough to open the hive?” But temperature is only part of the story. In this video, I break down the most overlooked factor in spring hive inspections—the one thing that will completely change how you read your brood frames, assess colony strength, and decide whether to intervene. 👉 Forage availability. Before adding syrup, feeding pollen patties, swapping brood frames, or blaming the queen, you need to understand what’s happening outside the hive. Nectar flow and pollen sources directly influence: Egg laying rate Brood production Colony growth velocity Food consumption Workforce balance Spring buildup timing If you misread internal brood patterns without considering external nectar and pollen flow, you can accidentally create imbalance—adding mouths to feed before resources are truly available. In this video, you’ll learn: ✔️ How to interpret brood frames in context ✔️ Why colonies look different—even side by side ✔️ When low brood isn’t a problem ✔️ How nectar and pollen flow drive egg production ✔️ Why adding brood too early can backfire ✔️ How to trust your bees instead of over-managing Spring beekeeping isn’t about doing more—it’s about seeing more. When you understand how external environmental signals influence internal colony conditions, you’ll make calmer, smarter management decisions that lead to stronger, healthier hives all season long. If you want help learning how to properly read your frames this spring, I’m offering limited assessment sessions where you can send photos or video of your colony and we’ll evaluate it together—based on forage conditions and real-time context. 🔗 Check the link below to learn more.
