All the toys in this video are what Tim calls 'thumb toys' - they essentially have a rack and pinion mechanism.
Hold the toy in one hand, and push the mechanism with your thumb. This sets the toy in motion, and it will normally keep going while you release the thumb press, allowing it to spring back to its initial position, so you can push it again.
