Top Tip Tuesday - Crown Splash

This week’s Top Tip Tuesday showcases the updated nxFluids tools in action, generating a detailed and physically accurate crown splash simulation. Using an xpEmitter with the new Flip mode, we explore the key simulation parameters that define accurate surface tension, sheeting behaviour and the characteristic motion of liquid on impact. To shape and refine the effect, we introduce the nxSplash modifier, which provides precise artistic control over the crown’s form and dynamics, allowing you to create everything from subtle ripples to energetic bursts. After adjusting the splash handle spline controls to achieve the desired intensity, the result is brought to life for rendering with the new GPU nxMesher, using Zhu–Bridson mode to generate a smooth, realistic mesh. Finally, a simple Redshift material is added to showcase the smooth, high-fidelity liquid surface, ideal for cinematic close-ups, motion graphics, and product visualisation. Want more great videos?
